What is GHK-Cu?
GHK-Cu is a copper-binding tripeptide (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine plus a copper ion) that occurs naturally in human plasma and declines as you age. Unlike most of the injectable research peptides here, it has a long, legitimate track record in the cosmetic industry and real human topical data behind it. That makes it one of the better-evidenced compounds in this library, at least for skin.
How GHK-Cu works
GHK-Cu acts as a copper-delivery vehicle and a signaling molecule. The copper is a cofactor for enzymes involved in building collagen and elastin, and the peptide itself stimulates fibroblasts to produce more of them. It also boosts TGF-beta signaling and helps regulate the matrix-remodeling enzymes that break tissue down and build it back up. Most strikingly, gene-expression studies show GHK can shift the activity of a very large number of genes, nudging aging-related patterns back toward a more youthful profile. That combination of copper chemistry and gene modulation is what sets it apart from a simple moisturizer ingredient.

The skin evidence is the strongest part of GHK-Cu's story. In human and dermal-fibroblast studies, topical GHK-Cu has increased collagen production and been associated with improvements in skin firmness, density, and the appearance of fine lines and photoaging, in some comparisons holding up against established actives. There is also supportive wound-healing and hair-follicle research. The caveat is scope: the solid human data is largely topical and cosmetic. Injectable or systemic use for anti-aging is far less studied and rests mostly on mechanism and animal work.
